My dad died when I was 9. I wrote this song when I was 18, after reading his journals from when he was the same age. It just made me think about how we must be a lot alike, particularly in the fact that we both wanted to be in love so bad, and we both wanted to do something great with our lives, and we were both emotionally unstable sometimes. I think that pretty much describes everyone at one time or another.
